Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University, does not offer campus placements for Philosophy (Hons) students. However, the college provides strong employability support through workshops, internships, and career counseling. Many students pursue higher studies or careers in academia, research, publishing, or civil services. My plan after completing the degree is to pursue a master's in philosophy to deepen my knowledge and improve my career prospects. The college's emphasis on critical thinking and analytical skills equips us well for various professional paths.
The tuition fee for Philosophy (Hons) is 10,400 INR per year, with infrequent and modest hikes. Living in my own house reduces costs. Scholarships include merit-based, need-based, and government schemes.
Campus life at Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University, is vibrant and engaging. The social atmosphere is welcoming, with students from diverse backgrounds fostering a sense of community. There are numerous clubs and societies, including the Debating Society, Drama Club, and various cultural and academic groups, offering ample opportunities for involvement and personal growth. The college infrastructure is commendable, with well-equipped classrooms, a modern library, and sports facilities. The campus also features green spaces, creating a pleasant environment for studying and socializing. Overall, my experience has been enriching, with a balance of academic and extracurricular activities.
The faculty-to-student ratio in our class is 1:52, with each professor teaching one subject to all 52 students. Despite the large class size, the learning experience remains effective due to the faculty’s qualifications and teaching approaches. Our professors are highly credentialed, holding advanced degrees and possessing significant expertise in their respective fields. Their strong academic and professional backgrounds ensure that the content they deliver is both comprehensive and up-to-date. They use a variety of teaching methods to keep the large class engaged, such as interactive lectures, multimedia presentations, and real-world examples. This diverse approach caters to different learning styles and keeps the material interesting. Even with the larger class size, professors strive to be approachable and supportive. They encourage questions during lectures and often incorporate discussion periods to foster a more interactive environment. Many professors also offer office hours.
i really feel that the curriculum of the course is pretty relevance. i personally think that literature students really should study this very portion. it could have been more comprehensive since they have really cut down atleast 10-15% course they used to teach about a decade ago.
The course curriculum is very good. The area of improvement in the course is there are a very large amount of students in class and there is only one teacher to handle it. They should be divided into 2 or 3 parts means they should increase the faculty members. The timing of the exam is not satisfying sometimes the teachers come 10-15 minutes late.
