- Sports facility, accommodation in hostels, cleanliness of surroundings and hostels, quality of food in mess and in canteens
- Peaceful environment to study, students and faculties are very cooperative. The faculties both teaching and non-teaching guide students and help them when needed.
- Infrastructure is great with basic amenities, air conditioned classrooms, seminar halls. Course taught is very relevant and are up to date ,help in our personality development and equips us for our professional career. Placement ratio is very high
Dislikes
- The mess food is sometimes not up to the mark.
- The dispensary is very far from the hostels.
- The academic area is a bit far from hostels.
Remarks :
I had applied for NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal and NIT Kurukshetra which are top level NIT's. I got confirmed admission in NIT Rourkela in CSAB second round. I faced rejection ito admission in other colleges due to my marks and percentile in JEE Mains. Admission in our college is done by JOSSAA and CSAB counselling based on percentile and rank in JEE Mains. Cuttoff percentile in JEE Mains for admission in NIT Rourkela is 92%ile for General .This cutoff percentile reduces based on reservation categories of students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Currently the course I am enrolled in is Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. This course has a huge relevance in present day indutries. This course also has good placement opportuinities and a stable career ahead. The curriculum is updated constantly according to the researches conducted every year. Due to this our knowledge is very updated and meets industrial standards. The teaching method of proffessors is very good. For further improvisation teachers should use smartboards for explaining concepts using visualization which would help us understand concepts in a better way.The exams are conducted in a 3months duration and difficulty level is moderate to difficult. Some subjects are very difficult whereas some subjects are very easy.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies that are mass recruiters are TCS, Delloitte, BHEL, SAIL,Accenture, Bharat petroleums, ONGC, MCI, etc. The roles offered in tech companies are that of SDE, Consultant, Team Lead, Project Manager, etc. the roles offered in core companies are posts in senior ranks which are very well paid. The projects assigned in tech are related to fullstack web development, dsa which gives industry level experience. Where as for intenships in core companies students have to give a written examination and also their CGPA is taken into consideration.
Placement Experience :
Placement scenario in NIT Rourkela is excellent. From fifth semester students apply for internships and from seventh semester students are eligible for placements. The mass recruiters are TCS, Accenture, Amazon, TATA Steel, BHEL, SAIL, ONGC, Bharat Petroleums,etc. Highest package offered in oncampus placements is 1Cr which is offered to students of Computer Science. The average package is 10LPA. The profiles in which high packages are offered are SDE, Consultant, Senior Engineer in core departments etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year wise fees is Rs.250000. Tution fees is Rs.150000, caution fees is Rs.2000, registration fees is Rs.40000, mess fess is Rs.20000, the other compulsory charges are Rs38000 which include library, healthcare, cultural activities ,sports facilities etc. This fee breakdown is for general category only. The other categories students are availed to fee waiver and the feee structure changes according to the respective categories of students. My some of the batchmates belong to General EWS, OBC, SC and ST categories. The yearly fees for General EWS is Rs.90000, for OBC it is Rs.80000, for SC it is Rs.60000 and for ST it is Rs.40000. Also students can apply for scholarships and the amount of fee waiver provided will be based on their categories. Some of the scholarships are AICTE Swanath Scholarship, Prime Minister's Scholarship for Students pursuing RPF/RPSF and there are many other scholarshi[s provided by private institutions like Tata,Reliance, etc.
Campus Life :
The co curricular activities are given a lot of attention. The campus environment fosters a sense of community through a range of social and cultural activities. There are many fests conducted in an academic year. The tech fest INNOVISION is the first fest conducted in the month of NOvember. The cultural fest Cosmopolitan is conducted in the month of January. The official fest of NIT Rourkela i.e NITRUTSAV happens in the month of March and the last fest the Celebrity Night is conducted in the month of April. Our college also hosts hackathons like HackNITR and HackInno.Also academically many facilities are available.There are lot of books on various subjects in central library and book issueing process is also very flexible.Also sports facilities are great.There are 5 fileds and each hostel have their own gyms and badminton courts volley ball courts. The classrooms are also well equipped.Each classroom has AC and smartboards and teachers use microphones while teaching.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities are great compared to other colleges. Rooms are neat and clean and properly ventilated. Internet connection is provided through lan ports in each room.Each room has 2 beds and 2 tables and racks fro keeping ones belongings. Food qulaity in every hostel is very good. The menu is very good which includes different foods on different days. The quality of non-veg food is also great. For freshers VS Hall is allotted adnd after first year hostel shifting is done. renting a PG and dayboarders are not allowed and hostel accommodation is compulsory.
Faculty :
Faculties are very proefficient in their respective fields and are very helpful. The student-faculty relationship here is great. Faculty to student ratio is 1:50 and faculties always pay attention to every student. Every faculty has a unique of teaching. The exams are conducted throughout the year. We have 2semesters each year and each semester has a mid sem and an end sem. Mid sems occur around September and end sems occur around November last week. Mid sems are of 30marks and end sems are of 50 marks and rest are internals which are of 20marks. The exams are of moderate level and require some amount of efforts to be able to score a good cgpa.Every year some students lag behind a subject and they are given special attention in the summer vacations .The back-clearing exms are conducted during summer vacations.The courses taught here are very releveant and are prepare students for industries and professional world.

Placement in KIIT is quite good here. Generally l, students gets around 8 to 10 lpa at their on campus companies visit. Also, many students start thier startups at the level of 3rd year. Also, going to abroad for study or job cases is quite frequent here.

The fee policy was very strong for study in this University, in a semester you have to complete half of your payment from full payment. The college fees for BTech CSE 1st year 1,50,000 and examination fees 23,000. It's all about college fees and academic fees . There are regular class like 7 to 8 hour class. All types of scholarship available like , Technical and professional, e -medhabruti, prerana etc. The faculty and the staff of this University are very fair for his work very sensible for his job
