When i qualified the imucet, i had this college as the first preference for a few reasons. The prime one being great placements. Students who don't get placed on campus can visit offices of shipping companies for off campus placement. The location in the Mumbai port trust (harbour lines) facilitates this
I've personally wanted to join merchant Navy, so i choose this course. The University decision to conduct arrear exams mid semester was good too, as it divides the load of the end semester and arrears exams. The syllabus is managed by the headquarters from Chennai, so no comments on that
(This is answered in the last step though) There are lots of on campus placements. The placement officers have links in shipping companies that hire the students on campus. Off campus placements are common too
The fees for odd semester is inr 152500 (including mess, tuition, lab and hostel fees). The one for even semester is 122500. Girls have a fees excuse of a specific amount. Other than that, the college doesn't ask for any extras
Okay this is actually a down side of this college. There is little activity outside academics. I myself am the batch representative for second year in the literary club but haven't had any good opportunities yet. Also the campus director likes to prioritise girls in almost every field (which is a good thing, but he does it in excess). Also there is no playground in the campus. The college has a ground on lease around 300m from the main gate, where most locals come to play too. The wardens might enter the hostel rooms without knocking and without reason. So, the general life in college is not great
The hostel building is good currently. 2-3 students per room. The classrooms are in the same building as the boys hostel. The hostel mess has skilled cooks, but even they reported that the campus director frequently fines them and cuts their salaries. Hostel registration is done with the check in. Hostels are compulsory, and for a reason
The permanent faculty appointed by the headquarters from Chennai are highly qualified and excellent, but the local visiting faculty are mostly non qualified and ignorant. Most don't even belong to the shipping field, which would be advantageous
There are placements in college in particular department. But for cs, it, and etc having equal placements so that their is quite difficult for got select in PI round. There is alot of competition for placements.
Large number of companies come for placements. More than 80% of students gets placed in the phase 1. Average package is around 21.26 LPA INR. Large companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Jane Street, Procter and gamble Jaguar, Microsoft, Google, etc comes for the placement. The highest package was around INR 4.2 CPA. And average package is around 21.26LPA. In the phase 1, around 1700 Placement offers were made and out of which 1450 offers were Accepted by the students. Around 82.1% of students gets placed in phase 1. My plan after getting the degree is to take a job and settle down.

Most of World top companions offered placement to my college students with highest of 4Cr. Package last year. Avg. Package is in between 30-35 LPA. 90 percent students get placement. I will be go for civil services.
Placements at IIT Bombay are really good because of the reputation of college in Industries and strong connections. Students are elgible to sit in campus placements in their last year i.e, 4th year and should not have any back in any course. Around 400 companies visit IIT Bombay for recruitment process with total of around 1700 placement offers in phase 1. Companies like Quadeye, Apple, McKinsey, Jane street, amazon, microsoft, Google, P&G, TATA, Jaguar, Morgan stanly, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting group, etc. Average package offered is around 23.26 LPA, highest package being INR 3.67 CPA. Previous year placement ratio is quite good but this year students facing the problems as not expected students got placement the reason is not known but few saying because of the recession the reason behind that
