I selected this college on the basis of it's ranking among other colleges and the location was more convinient. Also one the reason of selecting the college was that the research opportunnities in the college are very good.
The curriculum of the courses is very good. The subjects alloted to the courses are as per the need in present and are alloted very practically. Also the curriculum gives us the practical knowledge through various activities prepares us for the real world and as for suggestions for improvements there are lot of assignments and the quizes which sometimes just bound us to the academics and shifts our focus from actual learning so this issue could be looked upon by the institute .
The on campus placements are decent . Campus has its own placement cell and helps students to get placed in reputed companies. Although the placement for tech branches is better than the core branches . The average package of civil was around 7-7.5 LPA this year but the package of tech branches is generally high and they are from companies like microsoft , amazon etc.
Institute is quite helpful in terms of scholarship. They too have a scholarship section from where you can get knowledge and important info about the current scholarships. Also the institute's website has a particular section to view information about current government or private scholarship for students. As for fees the tution fee for civil engineering in college is 62500/- per semester. But fee wavier is provided to students based on their family income. The students with family income less than 1 Lakh are given 100 % wavier in tution fees but they have to pay other charges [hostel and many other facilities' charges(25500/-)] and mees fees(25000/-) . Students with family income above 1 Lakh and below 5 Lakh have to pay 1/3 of the tution fee(20840/-) including other charges(25500/-) and mess fees(25000/-). Students with family income above 5 Lakh have to submit the whole semester fee(62500/-)and the rest(25500 + 25000) also. For fee wavier you have to submit Income certificate.
Campus life is average for students. Its not very cheerful after the long hoy=urs of study. We have some good spts in campus to chill at with aur friends like Nescafe, Domino's, snackers and some canteens. Focusing on social aspects the college provides us with various clubs which focus on different fields an on increasing the social qualities in their members. Every year there are inductions for clubs. Students get to explore more about the in orientations, and then join them acccording to their interests. Also the sports clubs are always active in tournaments and also in campus matches are organised which are open to all students to focus on student's healthn also. Well the infrastructure is also decent, and every year ther is something new being built in campus which is a very good initiative.
The hostel facility for first year students is decent not very good but for senior students its quite good. Still sometimes we face issues like lifts are not working but that is resolved in time. Ther are some restrictions in hostel regarding the electric equipment that can be kept by students. Electric kettles are not allowed in hostels. Last year students were allowed to keep coolers in their rooms in summers but they have to be submitted after a particular time and they would also have to pay for the extra electricuty bill for it.
Professors are always ready to help and guide you. Even after classes you can clear your doubts or even you can go to their offices during working hours if you have doubts. But there might be some issues when talking about non academic things. So it's better not to create any unnecessary issues with professors.
Yes my college provide placements but not no higher packege like in other colleges. Average is upto 3 or 5 lakh per anum. Companies like wipro, tcs, kent, infosys etc has visited there. Those students which have 8.5 Sgp and above only can sit in placements. I honestly work two or three years in india for experience then i go for foregien coutries for wok and settle there.
Placements is actually one of the most thoroughly discussed subject at my college and its taken pretty seriously as it is one of the pillars for it's strong reputation. The students are eligible for internships right after the second semester, based on their skills. For on-campus placements, the students are mostly eligible after the sixth semester. Several companies such as JP Morgan, Deloitte, Samsung, Microsoft, Intel and last year Apple havd put their trusts over the students of our college. Also the placements record is quite good. Last year, the highest package was claimed to be around 54L per annum, which was secured by 2 students. The average stood at 12L per annum. As per my knowledge, all of my seniors were placed in pretty good corporations. However its also important to acknowledge the individual effort and skill. I plan to secure a good job through on-campus placements and make a mark on the tech world...
good placements, but cg cut is very high. i had done a podcast with senior as well and got to know a lot about the placements about thapar. you can checkout that on my youtube channel : BHAVISHYA SINGLA.
Second year student are eligible for placements and internships. Companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Flipkart, etc. provide thousands of placement offers. Amazon provide highest package of 1.2 Cr. to Electronics and Communication Branch student. Average package is 10 Lakhs per year.
